Upcoming Social Studies Test on WWII

Here are some good questions that you can discuss with your child to help

them think about what they have been learning during this unit of study.

These questions require critical thinking and are good to make sure

they truly understand the content of what we have been learning in class.
1) Cite evidence from your text to explain why Historians called the treatment of Jewish people the Holocaust. (you can  refer to p. 362 in SS textbook)

2) Compare the war strategies used by the Allied Powers to defeat Germany vs. their

war strategies used to defeat Japan.

3) Analyze and give your opinion of which war strategy was more effective in ending WWII. The one used against Germany or the one used against Japan. Use evidence to support your opinion.

4) How would the "possible" invasion of Poland by Germany have been handled if we would have already created the United Nations?

Stay posted...I will be posting some more resources to help with upcoming SS test...

2.)they both had to get closer to attack (u.s had to go to great britain to attack Normandy,France.they also got closer to drop the atomic bomb on japan).

    3.)

4.)it would still happen because hitler wouldn't care because dictators don't take orders from people.

  2. 1) Holocaust denial is the act of denying the genocide of Jews in the Holocaust during World War II.The key claims of Holocaust denial are: the German Nazi government had no official policy or intention of exterminating Jews, Nazi authorities did not use extermination camps and gas chambers to mass murder Jews, and the actual number of Jews killed was significantly (typically an order of magnitude) lower than the historically accepted figure of 5 to 6 million.Holocaust deniers generally do not accept the term denial as an appropriate description of their activities, and use the term revisionism instead.Scholars use the term "denial" to differentiate Holocaust deniers from historical revisionists, who use established historical methodologies. The methodologies of Holocaust deniers are criticized as based on a predetermined conclusion that ignores extensive historical evidence to the contrary.
Most Holocaust denial claims imply, or openly state, that the Holocaust is a hoax arising out of a deliberate Jewish conspiracy to advance the interest of Jews at the expense of other peoples. For this reason, Holocaust denial is generally considered to be an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

    2) The only reason why the allies won is that they just swamped the German army with just tons and tons of planes, tanks, 6,000 ships and 175,000 soldiers also because Hitler killed himself and every one surrendered same for Japan lots of people died and they surrendered.

    3) I think it was Normandy France D-Day was the most effective because THE LEADER "HITLER" died and today, twenty-seven war cemeteries hold the remains of over 110,000 dead from both sides: 77,866 German, 9386 American, 17,769 British, 5002 Canadian and 650 Poles.Between 15,000 and 20,000 French civilians were killed, mainly as a result of Allied bombing. Thousands more fled their homes to escape the fighting.

    4) I really think that it would still happen because all the dictators probably would not care because that do not care about any one else and just want to take over the world, have the most power or want to be incontrol of everyone and everything because hitler did not care when his father died and he did not listen to his father when his grades were bad all he cared about was being an Artist.
